PostSubject: Quotes from environmentalists   Mon Oct 13, 2008 8:07 am

Warning: This may scare the shit out of you.

This is seriously scary quotes from some top-ranking environmentalists, have they gone mad?

-------------
Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs.
—John Davis, editor of Earth First! Journal

Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on earth, social and environmental.
—Dave Forman, Founder of Earth First!

I know scientists who remind me that people are part of nature, but it isn't true. Somewhere along the line ... we quit the contract and became a cancer. We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the Earth.... Until such time as Homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along. (source: "Mother Nature as a hothouse flower," Los Angeles Times Book Review, October 22, 1989, p. 10.)
—David Graber, biologist, National Park Service

Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.
—Pentti Linkola

If you ask me, it’d be a little short of disastrous for us to discover a source of clean, cheap, abundant energy because of what we would do with it. We ought to be looking for energy sources that are adequate for our needs, but that won’t give us the excesses of concentrated energy with which we could do mischief to the earth or to each other.
—Amory Lovins in The Mother Earth–Plowboy Interview, Nov/Dec 1977, p.22

The only real good technology is no technology at all. Technology is taxation without representation, imposed by our elitist species (man) upon the rest of the natural world.
—John Shuttleworth

i have no problem with the first two, lol, they are right. humans don't have more of a value than slugs in regards to, say, the universe, or even just on earth.

and, though i have a problem with phasing out humanity, its true that getting rid of all humankind WOULD fix all social problems, as well as environmental problems.

the next four are indicative of the downturn mainstream environmentalism has taken toward primitivism, which i don't agree with.

that said, the quotes don't scare me, i've been hearing these arguments for a long time now....

lol, not really, its stupid to want to kill all of humankind when you are a human yourself - but i don't think they'll actually channel their energy into a genocide of all humankind o.o;;

Not all of them are ridiculous..

And you can find obscene quotes from every political philosophy (some, more than others).. And you must admit, environmentalism lacks the amount of kooks that other political philosophies or religions have.
