North Korea no longer a threat to USA

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States on Saturday removed North Korea from its list of states that sponsor terrorism, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

1 of 2 "Based upon the cooperation agreement North Korea has recently provided ... the secretary of state this morning rescinded the designation of the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] as a state sponsor of terrorism, and that was effective as of her signature," McCormack said.

McCormack said the United States and North Korea had reached agreement "on an number of important verification measures" of North Korea's nuclear program.

These include participation by all members of the Six Party Talks, the role of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency, access to all of North Korea's nuclear facilities and what procedures would be used in the verification process.

"Every element of verification that we sought is included in this package," McCormack said at a news conference.

This is somewhat like Appeasement, North Korea is being aggressive so we back down and try to make friends, this appeasement happened with Hitler too, and many historians say that if the allies wouldn't of appeased Hitler a lot of deaths would have never happened.

Hitler didn't either...until he got stronger, as N. Korea is doing nuclear-wise.

.....as soon as hitler gained power, he began restricting rights based on ethnicity and religion....within a few years he "acquired" austria and czechoslovakia...

north korea building nuclear plants that may or may not be building weapons is hardly comparable.

also, hitler didn't wait until he got stronger. he didn't have to. that's why people are so against appeasement.

Well..obviously in N. Korea today they don't have many rights, whether on religion or ethnicity it doesn't matter, but it's still prevoked. And we already seen N.Koreas hostility for trying to..errm "unite" Korea.

So they make nuclear plants than just leave?

Well it did take "some" time for Hitler to prepare, as North Korea could or could not be doing, but appeasing them won't help the solution.

BTW: ~ I didn't mean to direct that 100% North Korea appeasment to Hitler, just some parts are closely related.

well, you could've just said that its appeasement lol, that's all they have in common

also, korea is one nation, its just ruled by two different government currently ^_^ think to what defines a "nation" (a subjective term meaning a common culture that all members in the nation draw from)

it didn't take that long for hitler to prepare, once he got power, he immediately passed various laws that basically threw the versailles treaty in the pit (good move), and laws that sectioned off his people and began the removal of various rights (bad move)

and the nuclear plants that were built were intended for the use of creating energy....the problem is that the waste from these nuclear plants can (after quite a long period of buildup, mind you, i'm trying to remember, i can't, but i THINK it was 10 years, for plants built mostly to create energy)

north korean government is just trying to protect itself, go read up on what the u.s. did to them, and you might understand why they are quite literally one gigantic fortress.

Well, im guessing your not in Korea (Lol) so we can't fully know what they use it for. Considering they try to seclude themselves (and succeded) we can't be for sure what they have in that nuclear base, energy or bombs.

And Kim Jongs cult of personality is not helping the situation, either.

no, we've had UN inspectors there, i believe....we kicked them out -_- said they weren't good enough, that people had to send U.S. inspectors! -_- u.s. = TOO pompous IMO

we enforce their seclusion as much as with cuba (note how every country that can, except the u.s. (cause we are stubborn -_-), trades with cuba, now that the u.s. lifted the idea that we'd suddenly invade and crush any country that might dare to "invade" "our" territory

I don't know...maybe if you held reliable proof, but most socialistic marxist countries are somewhat tolitarian no matter what. Look at Mao, Stalin, etc. Usually it doesn't turn out well!
